Sustainability & Climate Project Management
Closing the gap between organizational ambition and on-the-ground impact — across Europe and Africa.
About Us
Who We Are
Founded in Paris in 2018, Gatelind is an end-to-end sustainability project management firm dedicated to closing the gap between organizational ambition and on-the-ground impact. We work at the intersection of environmental science, engineering, and project management, helping public institutions, private companies, enterprises and development agencies translate their sustainability commitments into measurable, lasting results.
Over the past seven years, we have grown into a trusted partner for sustainability-driven transformation across Europe and Africa. With a lean, expert team and a rigorously curated network of engineers, contractors, and technology providers, we bring the discipline of world-class project management to some of the most complex environmental challenges of our time.
Our Mission
To Make Sustainability Projects Succeed
Our mission is simple: to make sustainability projects succeed. Too many well-intentioned environmental programs fail at the execution stage — delayed by regulatory complexity, undermined by poor technology selection, or abandoned when procurement becomes unmanageable. Gatelind exists to prevent that.
We are technology-agnostic and outcome-focused. Whether the solution is an industrial filtration system, a solar mini-grid, a circular economy redesign, or an advanced environmental monitoring platform, our role is to identify the right approach for your specific context — and then manage every step from feasibility to commissioning and beyond.
Our Story
Founded to Fill a Gap
Gatelind was founded in 2018 by a team of engineers and project managers who had spent years watching sustainability initiatives stall not from lack of vision, but from lack of execution capacity. We saw a clear gap in the market: organizations had the ambition and often the funding, but lacked the specialist project management expertise to navigate the technical, regulatory, and procurement complexity that large-scale sustainability projects demand.
We launched Gatelind to fill that gap. Starting with industrial emission-reduction projects in France, we quickly expanded into renewable energy, water management, and cross-border climate resilience programs across West and East Africa. Today, with over 40 completed projects across 12 countries, we are one of the few sustainability project management firms with deep operational experience on both sides of the Mediterranean.

Industrial Emission Reduction — French Automotive Manufacturer
A major French automotive manufacturer approached Gatelind with a clear mandate: reduce Scope 1 greenhouse gas emissions across three production sites in the Lyon region within 18 months, while maintaining full production capacity and achieving compliance with tightening EU industrial emission standards.
The Challenge
The three sites operated legacy production equipment with significant VOC (volatile organic compound) and CO₂ emissions. The client had attempted to address emissions in isolation at individual sites, without a coordinated programme-level approach. The result was inconsistent performance and missed reduction targets. A €4.2 million investment envelope had been approved, but the client lacked the project management infrastructure to deploy it effectively.
Our Approach
Gatelind conducted a full technical audit of all three sites in parallel, identifying primary emission sources and prioritizing interventions by impact and feasibility. We then managed an integrated €4.2M programme encompassing the procurement and installation of industrial filtration systems, process-optimization technology upgrades, and real-time emissions monitoring infrastructure. We acted as owner's engineer throughout — managing the technology supplier, overseeing installation contractors, and coordinating regulatory submissions with the relevant French environmental authorities.
Outcome
34% reduction in Scope 1 emissions achieved within 18 months
Full compliance achieved across all three sites with EU industrial emission directives
Real-time monitoring infrastructure installed, enabling ongoing performance tracking
Programme delivered on time and within the approved €4.2M envelope
Senegal · 2022
Renewable Energy Transition — West African Agri-Cooperative
A West African agricultural cooperative representing over 1,200 farming households in rural Senegal engaged Gatelind to manage the full implementation of a solar mini-grid project — the cooperative's most significant infrastructure investment in its history and a critical step toward energy independence for its member communities.
The Challenge
The project required coordinating a complex stakeholder ecosystem: local contractors with variable capacity, international equipment suppliers, NGO partners providing community engagement and subsidy support, and national and regional regulatory bodies. Previous attempts to implement rural electrification in the area had stalled at the permitting and contractor coordination stage.
Our Approach
Gatelind provided full project management from technology selection through to commissioning and operational handover. We designed the procurement process to maximise use of local contractors and suppliers wherever technically feasible, contributing to local economic development alongside the primary energy objective. Our regulatory team managed all permitting with Senegalese national authorities and coordinated compliance with the NGO donor's project requirements.
Outcome
1,200 farming households electrified across the cooperative's communities
60% average reduction in household energy costs post-commissioning
Local contractor utilization rate exceeded 70% of total works value
Project completed on schedule, enabling the cooperative to begin its next expansion phase
Marseille, France · 2023
Water & Waste Management — Marseille Industrial Park
A multi-tenant industrial park operator in Marseille engaged Gatelind to design and implement a closed-loop water recycling system for the park — a project driven both by operational cost reduction objectives and the need to achieve EU Taxonomy alignment for water use ahead of new investor reporting requirements.
The Challenge
The park's water consumption profile was complex: multiple tenants with different process water needs, wastewater streams with varying contamination levels, and limited physical space for treatment infrastructure. Previous consultants had proposed solutions that were technically sound but operationally impractical for a multi-tenant environment with no single operator responsible for water management.
Our Approach
Gatelind redesigned the approach from the ground up. Working with the park's management company and key tenants, we developed a shared-infrastructure model that allocated capital costs and operational savings proportionally across tenants. We then managed the full design, procurement, and construction of the closed-loop system, including a modular treatment facility and recirculation network serving all park buildings.
Outcome
47% reduction in total freshwater consumption across the industrial park
Full EU Taxonomy compliance achieved for water use — enabling improved ESG disclosure for the park operator and its tenants
Payback period for the investment estimated at under four years based on reduced water utility costs
System design validated by independent environmental auditors
Kenya / Tanzania · 2024
Climate Resilience Infrastructure — East African Development Agency
Gatelind was engaged by an East African development agency to manage the deployment of drought and flood monitoring infrastructure across three critical river basins spanning Kenya and Tanzania — a multi-stakeholder programme funded by a combination of national government budgets, multilateral development bank financing, and UN agency contributions.
The Challenge
The programme involved an exceptionally complex stakeholder landscape: two national governments with different regulatory frameworks and procurement rules, three UN agencies with distinct reporting requirements, satellite data providers operating under commercial confidentiality constraints, and local implementation partners with variable technical capacity. Coordinating this ecosystem across international borders, while delivering against a fixed timeline driven by seasonal weather windows, demanded precise programme governance.
Our Approach
Gatelind established a programme management office (PMO) structure that created a single coordination point for all stakeholders without duplicating existing governmental or UN management structures. We designed an integrated monitoring architecture combining ground-based sensor networks, satellite data feeds, and UAV-based aerial surveys, and managed the procurement of all technology components across the two jurisdictions. Our regulatory team worked in parallel with both governments' environmental ministries to ensure all infrastructure met national permitting requirements and was positioned to integrate with existing national early-warning systems.
Outcome
Early-warning monitoring systems now cover over 800,000 people across the three river basins
Infrastructure operational across all planned sites within the seasonal deployment window
Monitoring data integrated into both the Kenyan and Tanzanian national early-warning platforms
Programme delivered on budget with full compliance across all donor reporting requirements
